I can still picture myself leaning against a chain-link fence in Austin, Texas.
Waiting to audition.
For a coaching job.
After decades of experience in health, fitness, and coaching.
And I remember thinking...
Are you kidding me?
But here's what I've learned about starting over.
It doesn't erase what came before it.
You bring everything with you.
The skills. The scars. The relationships. The mistakes. The confidence. The things that worked and the things that absolutely did not.
I didn't walk into that audition empty-handed.
I brought decades with me.
And in less than two years, I had more than 200 campers.
But the number isn't really the story.
Because some of those people are still part of my life today.
We've traveled together. Shared meals. Raised a glass together. Done life together.
I thought I was auditioning for a coaching opportunity.
I had no idea I was auditioning for a chapter of my life.
That's what this episode is about.
Because maybe you're standing against your own version of that fence right now.
New job. New career. New chapter. And a voice in your head saying...
At my age? After everything I've already done? I have to start over now?
Maybe.
But you're not starting from scratch.
You're starting from experience.
And I want to hear your story.
Tell me about a time you had to start over.
Maybe you chose it. Maybe life chose it for you.
Record a simple one to two minute voice memo. Tell me what happened, what you learned, and why somebody else might need to hear it.
Don't make it perfect. Make it real.
Send your voice memo to trailblazerdane@gmail.com.
Your story may become part of a future episode of Turn Positivity Into Possibility.
Because somebody you've never met may be standing against the same fence you already walked away from.

What if the different chapters of your life aren't nearly as disconnected as they seem?
Cardiac rehab director. College professor. Managing a family medical practice. Health and wellness coach. Husband, father, grandfather, traveler and now insurance professional.
On paper, my path may look like a series of reinventions.
But looking backward, I see something different.
A thread.
In this first episode of a new chapter of Turn Positivity Into Possibility, I explore the idea that starting a new chapter doesn't mean starting from scratch.
Every career, relationship, adventure, success, mistake, and unexpected turn leaves us with something we carry forward.
Maybe reinvention isn't always about becoming somebody new.
Maybe sometimes it's finally recognizing who you've been all along.
And after you listen, I want you to consider one question:
What's the thread running through your story?
I also want to hear your story.
What's one lesson life has taught you that somebody else needs to hear?
Record a simple 1–2 minute voice memo. Tell me what happened, what you learned, and why somebody else might need to hear it.
Don't make it perfect. Make it real.
Send your voice memo to trailblazerdane@gmail.com. Your story may become part of a future episode of Turn Positivity Into Possibility.
Because somebody you've never met may be walking through something you've already survived.

What if the moment that changed everything was not a book, a mentor, or a life crisis?
What if it was four words from a three-year-old in a backseat?
In this episode, Dane Boyle opens a deeply personal three-part series called What My Kids Taught Me.
It starts with a single car ride in 1994.
A little girl named Kayla.
And a question so simple it almost did not register.
Almost.
This is not a parenting lecture.
This is a story about awareness, about the questions we never think to ask, and about what it actually means to raise human beings who can think for themselves, need each other, and never lose who they are in the process.
If you have ever wondered what you are actually passing down to the people you love most, this episode is going to make you think about it differently.

What You Will Discover:
The moment that started everything:- Why a three-year-old's question cracked open something Dane had never thought to examine- What it means to be a good person who still has blind spots- Why awareness does not come from classrooms, it comes from paying attention
Where Dane's thinking actually came from:- A Catholic father, a Jewish mother, and a household built on independent thinking- Why the standard in his home was never the label, it was the life- The moment at nine years old that taught him more than any religion class ever did
The philosophy that changed how he raised his kids:- Independent, interdependent, never dependent- What each of those words actually means in real life- Why belonging to something and being defined by it are two very different things
The bison story that reframes everything:- Why cattle prolong their suffering by running from the storm- What bison do differently and why it matters- How this one idea changes the way you think about hard conversations, difficult truths, and raising kids who are ready for the real world
What Dane wants his kids and grandkids to carry:- Think for yourself, not because the world is wrong, but because your mind is yours- Need people, not because you are weak, but because being known is one of the most human things there is- Never outsource who you are- When the storm comes, turn toward it

Key Takeaways:
- Awareness does not always arrive through effort, sometimes it arrives through a question you were not expecting- You do not have to be a bad person to have blind spots, you just have to be busy- Independent, interdependent, never dependent is not just a parenting philosophy, it is a life philosophy- The goal is not to raise kids who never struggle, it is to raise kids who know how to walk through the struggle- Cattle run from storms and prolong them, bison run into them and get through faster, same storm, different outcome- What you pass down is rarely what you say, it is almost always what you do

What separates the people who consistently perform at a high level from everyone else?
It's not talent.
It's not luck.
It's not even intelligence.
It's what they do every single day without needing to be motivated or reminded.
In this episode, Dane breaks down the five habits that quietly drive high performers forward while everyone else waits for the right moment.
If you've ever felt capable but inconsistent, busy but not productive, or like you're working hard without actually gaining ground, this episode will show you exactly where the gap is.

What You'll Discover:
Why mornings matter more than most people realize:
- How the first hour of your day sets the tone for everything that follows- Why most professionals hand their best mental hours to other people's agendas- The simple morning structure high performers use without making it complicated
The decision-making habit that changes everything:
- Why high performers decide faster and adjust faster- The seventy percent rule and why waiting for certainty is just fear in disguise- The difference between being right and getting it right
Energy management versus time management:
- Why most productivity problems are actually energy problems- How to identify your peak performance window and protect it- What high performers schedule during their best hours versus everything else
The relationship habit most professionals skip:
- Why networking only when you need something almost never works- How high performers build warm, genuine networks through consistent small investments- The simple relationship maintenance system that compounds over years
Why discomfort is a compass, not a stop sign:
- How high performers think about resistance differently than everyone else- Why doing the uncomfortable thing first builds the kind of confidence that lasts- The compounding effect of consistently doing what you said you would do

Key Takeaways:
- High performers are not built differently, they are habituated differently- Protecting your morning protects your entire day- A good decision made quickly beats a perfect decision made too late- Your best work should happen during your best hours, not whatever is left over- Relationships built before you need them are the only ones that actually work- Discomfort is usually a signal that something important is waiting on the other side

What happens when a Vietnam veteran's son realizes the difference between surviving and thriving? In this deeply personal episode, Dane shares the story of three broken Volkswagen bugs, a father who missed little league to build a future, and the hard lesson that hope isn't a strategy. If you've ever felt like you're just trying to keep things running instead of actually preparing for what's ahead, this episode will challenge everything you think you know about masculine responsibility.
What You'll Discover:
The generational pattern that shaped everything:
- A Vietnam veteran working three jobs through medical school with four kids- Three broken VW bugs and hoping one would start each morning- Missing Little League because survival mode doesn't allow for coaching- Why the greatest generation survived through will but never learned to plan ahead
The wake-up calls that changed everything:
- Personal losses and major life transitions at 60- The moment when hard work alone wasn't enough- Realizing good people can do everything right and still get blindsided
The difference between providing and protecting:
- Providing is earning money, protecting is preparing for uncertainty  - Why preparation isn't lack of faith, it's stewardship- Moving from survival mode to strategic thinking
The questions every man needs to ask:
- Are you tinkering with broken cars or preparing for the journey?- When did you last review what protection you actually have in place?- What would happen to your family if something went wrong tomorrow?
Key Takeaways:
• Hope is important, but hope without a plan creates unnecessary stress• Real strength includes admitting you don't have all the answers  • Preparation gives you peace that perseverance alone can't provide• Breaking generational cycles requires learning what wasn't taught

What happens when a successful fitness trainer realizes the most important muscle to strengthen isn't physical, it's financial security? In this deeply personal episode, Dane shares the hard questions that transformed his career and reveals why real confidence comes from real knowledge, not hope. If you've ever felt stuck or wondered if you're truly protected in life, this episode will challenge you to ask the questions that matter.
What You'll Discover:
The journal moment that started everything, feeling stuck despite outward success
The five life-changing questions that transformed Dane's perspective:- What do I actually want?- Whose dream am I chasing? - Where have I settled?- What would it feel like to actually get there?- What's one thing I can do today?
The pattern Dane discovered with fitness clients, meticulous about physical health, hoping for the best with financial protection
The transition from Trainer Dane to Insurance Dane: same mission, different application
Applying the hard questions to your protection and security
The bigger picture - how asking questions about insurance leads to asking better questions about everything
Key Takeaways:• Real confidence comes from real knowledge, not assumptions• The same questions that change careers can transform every area of life• Most people are meticulous about physical health but hope for the best with financial protection• Getting comfortable with hard questions about protection makes you comfortable asking hard questions about everything
